Springfield Armory to Release 6 New Models of the Tactical Response Pistol (TRP)
Springfield Is Expanding the Lineup of the TRP in .45 ACP
Springfield Armory has given the TRP line a serious makeover with six new .45 ACP models, each with a wide range of head-turning features.
A Boon for 1911 Enthusiasts
The TRP's design was inspired by the Springfield Armory Professional 1911. What sets the TRP pistols apart is that they've undergone detailed hand fitting for precise form and operation. Each pistol's construction starts with a forged frame and slide for optimal strength and durability. For enhanced precision, each pair is hand-picked for slide-to-frame fit and numbered to connect them with their matching components throughout the entire build process. The end result is a first-class fit with unbeatable performance and six new models to choose from.
When asked about how the new TRP pistols will impact the league of the 1911, Springfield's Vice President of Marketing, Steve Kramer remarked, “The TRP has long been one of the most respected 1911 pistols not only in the Springfield line but also in the broader 1911 community. With these new TRP variants, Springfield Armory is taking a proven classic into the 21st century.”
A Shooter's Dream
All TRP pistols include finely cut sighting plane serrations along the top of the slide. This feature not only adds to its handsome aesthetic, but it allows shooters an improved sight picture and maximum light diffusion. Shooters will also appreciate the tritium three-dot sight system which enhances precision no matter the lighting conditions.
Superior Grip System
Springfield Armory enlisted VZ Grips and their combat-ready Hydra series for the new TRP pistols. The steep relief channels provide a secure grip that highlights the layers and patterns of the G-10 material. What's more, all TRP pistols feature 20 lines-per-inch checkering on the frame for an enhanced grip—perfect for either wet or gloved hands.
The Different TRP Models
The six .45 ACP models consist of two Classic models, two Rail models, and two Carry Contour models. The Classic pistols are offered in 5-inch and 4.25-inch versions, both include all-steel construction as well as two-piece magwells. The Rail models are both 5-inch all-steel handguns with two-piece magwells and a Picatinny rail on the dustcover for the addition of accessories. They are offered in Black or Coyote Brown finishes. The final two Carry Contour (CC models) feature 4.25-inch barrels along with a bobbed, lightweight aluminum frame for easier concealed carry. These two variants (which do not feature extended magwells) are also offered in Black or Coyote Brown.
With six different models to choose from, the TRP has something for everyone. Whether it's a need for a simplistic design, lightweight carry, or a concealed carry gun that begs to be accessorized, each Tactical Response Pistol is built to Springfield's high standards with a razor-sharp focus on premium engineering and function.
