SIG Sauer P365 AXG Legion

SIG Sauer continues to release new variants on their wildly successful P365 micro 9mm. New for 2024 they have released their Legion version. The SIG Sauer Legion guns represent the pinnacle of what that gun can be and frequently have custom triggers, controls, grips and finishes. The P365 AXG Legion is no exception, it mimics its big brother, the competitive P320, but is optimized for carry and smaller hands. It comes with a Macro size metal frame that accepts 17-round magazines, it has a removable beveled mag well, custom Legion G10 grip panels, an extended slide catch, and a full 1913 Picatinny rail on the dust cover.

The slide is optics-ready and comes with XRAY3 Day/Night sights. The slide is comped with two ports cut in front of the front sight to aid in recoil management. The entire gun is coated in Legion Cerakote Gray finish and comes with three 17-round magazines. For anyone who loves the P365 (and who doesn’t?), this is the absolute premium model. MSRP is $1,200.

SIG Sauer M17X

SIG Sauer M17X

The military version of the P320 is designated as the M17. The M17X is the military version but loaded with the advanced features of the P320X series. It has a coyote tan grip module with extended beavertail, aggressive stippling, a high undercut beneath the triggerguard, a removable extended mag well, and comes with three 21-round magazines. It uses an X Series flat blade trigger which is an improvement over the standard trigger.

The jewel of this package is that it comes with the new ROMEO-M17 optic. The ROMEO-M17 was introduced less than a year ago and has already been given a National Stock Number (NSN) and authorized for use in all branches of the U.S. military. It has a revolutionary patented Copper-Beryllium flexure arm that changes the way micro red dots hold zero. Instead of using traditional counter springs or washers to deal with reciprocating slide mass and momentum, a single flexure arm holds the LED carriage and guarantees zero retention and return to zero. It is a fully enclosed optic so the user does not have to worry about snow, rain, dirt, or anything else obstructing the emitter. It has an aspheric glass lens to prevent any distortion, optimized coatings for daytime clarity, and is night vision compatible. MSRP is $1,430.

SIG Sauer M400-SDI XSeries

SIG Sauer M400-SDI XSeries

SIG Sauer “XSeries” weapons are the guns that have the best ergonomics in a specific platform, for example, the XSeries in the P365 and P320. In a nutshell, the XSeries means it has all of the best features. The U.S. Army is switching to a SIG Sauer rifle and many of the features that have been woven into SIG Sauer’s contract-winning rifles from the SIG 516, the MCX and now the SIG Spear are shared in the M400-SDI X Series. The M400-SDI X Series comes fully ambidextrous: charging handle, safety selector switch, bolt catch/release, magazine release, and even the QD sling attachment points on the Magpul SL stock.

It has a two-stage Matchlite Duo trigger and a full-length, free-floated forend that has Picatinny on top and M-Lok compatible slots on the remaining sides. The 16-inch barrel has a mid-length gas system for reliability, a micro gas block hidden under the forend, chrome-moly lining, and the flash suppressor at the end looks like a standard bird cage but has gas ports on top to combat muzzle rise. The M4000-SDI XSeries is a premium, direct impingement AR15 rifle that comes at a very affordable, mid-tier price. It also has the best warranty in the firearms industry. MSRP $1,500.

SIG Sauer M400 Tread

SIG Sauer M400 Tread

The M400 TREAD was relaunched recently with some model updates to make it an ideal, entry-level AR. For the price, this is a premium rifle that competitors would sell for at least 50 percent more. The 1:8 rifling twist works great with inexpensive, light bulk ammo and then still patterns well with heavier, more expensive rounds when the shooter is more experienced. It is available in two colors, black anodized and Moss Green Cerakote. Updates from the legacy Tread rifle include a free-floating M-Lok enhanced handguard, a SIG Matchlite 2-stage trigger, and a Magpul 6 position, collapsible SL-K stock.

The lower receiver now has QD sling attachment points on both sides behind the safety selector. It retains the ambidextrous safety selector from the discontinued M400 TREAD 1.0. It also retains the 16-inch stainless steel barrel. Other features include a three-prong flash hider and mid-length gas system. While the new QD attachment points are nice, the forend has to be the biggest upgrade. Now instead of having a few M-Lok attachment points at the front of the forend at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, they run the entire length of the handrail to allow more customization of the gun. MSRP is $1,000.
